"I cried so much in China that I probably could fill up a swimming pool, but it (they) were tears of happiness and joy."
Retired American teacher Ronald Sakolsky returned earlier this month from a 10-day trip to China, where he reunited with Chinese anti-desertification pioneer Yin Yuzhen.
With 5,000 USD raised by Sakolsky, Yin and her family planted and nurtured more than 50,000 trees in the desert.
For Sakolsky, the reunion was also a reminder of how people-to-people exchanges can make a lasting difference.
